[Food Phase Fridays] Nitro 7's Nitro Mocha

Their kiosk at Greenbelt 3

It's been an awfully long while since my last Food Phase Fridays post so here I am with a new entry. To refresh you on what this tag is all about, Food Phase Fridays is a blog series where I share my current food obsessions on a Friday. Not every Friday, just on a Friday just so we could have more words to put on the tag lol like The Sunday Currently, Throwback Thursdays, and Friday's 10 Happy Things... yaknow? It helps with post scheduling and makes me look like an organized blogger.

Large Nitro Mocha (₱135)

Today's obsession is Nitro 7's Nitro Mocha. Basically iced cafe mocha using nitrogen infused coffee. This type of infusion makes your regular cold brew richer and creamier. And no doubt it does! I've never tasted coffee this good. Seriously. It's way better than Starbucks' iced cafe mocha. Their chocolate syrup isn't gritty and the coffee is really smoother. Super duper worth it. I learned about Nitro 7 when they opened a kiosk at Crave Park Marikina two years ago, and when I learned they've branched out to a couple of places, I was so delighted! I used to always get their Nitro Breve, which is a latte, whenever we're at Robinsons Magnolia. I was never addicted to it, but Nitro 7 eventually became my first choice for coffee whenever it's around. And when I tried Nitro Mocha for the first time last week, I mentally cried in despair at why it's too far from the office.

I had this drink for 5 days straight and all I can say is that it's worth the 20 minute walk to and from the nearest kiosk. The lengths I'd go to for quality coffee!

Try it guuuys they have branches at the following places:
  • SM Megamall B
  • SM North EDSA Annex
  • SM Dasmarinas
  • Robinsons Magnolia
  • Ayala the 30th
  • Greenbelt 3
  • LA Village
  • Eastwood Citiwalk 1
Also, follow Nitro 7 Coffee and Tea Bar on Facebook and Instagram!

[Food Phase Fridays] McCafe Iced Coffee

Resurrecting the tag with my current addiction, McDonald's Iced Coffee! I love it primarily because it's made of brewed coffee and just the right amount of milk and sugar (syrup). It's not as strong as Starbucks' version but it has enough strength and flavor to keep my day running. Best of all, it's only ₱47! Sooooooo affordable. It's now my go-to coffee.

I didn't realize I was getting addicted to it until I found myself at McDonald's drive-thru every day before coming to work. Well not every day, but mostly whenever I have the car with me haha, like 3x a week.

Earlier was one of the best "cravings satisfied" moments for me. I can't sleep and was craving for coffee (ironically) so I went out and bought one, and since I'm already within the area, I got a bbq/wasabi mega fries from Potato Corner as well! That explains the sly brown bag peeking from behind my coffee. Haaaay, food is life.

Random fun facts about McDonald's!
  1. McDonald's started out as a BBQ joint in San Bernardino, California.
  2. Ray Kroc didn't actually start McDonald's, it was founded in 1940 by brothers Richard and Maurice McDonald.
  3. McDonalds used to own 90% of Chipotle as an investor back in 2006, but later on sold its stake to better focus on the restaurant.
  4. Did you know that there's a ski-thru McDonald's in Lindvallen resort, Sweden where skiiers can schuss through and get their fast food fix?
  5. The average drive-thru transaction is approximately 3 minutes (189.49 seconds). Really now? I can only hope the Philippines was factored in this study haha! Wendy's leads with a 133.63 second turnaround time though!
  6. Can you guess what their best-selling item is?
  7. They say McDonald's Coke tastes super good and different from other places. The secret? The soda syrup is delivered in a stainless tank to preserve its freshness, compared to other restaurants that get them in plastic bags. I personally don't notice the difference haha.
  8. When Sarah Michelle Gellar was 4 (or 5), she was named in a lawsuit filed by McDonald's for participating in a Burger King ad that badmouthed its burger as being 20% smaller than its competitor. Hahaha
  9. McDonald's best-selling item is the french fries! I'm surprised! :D

[Food Phase Fridays] Potato Corner

Potato Corner has been around since 1992 and has since opened over 300 branches worldwide. They were one of the first to introduce flavored french fries in the country after getting the idea from flavored popcorn which was quite a hit that time. Also, they're one of the pioneering food cart businesses in the Philippines, garnering rows of awards from the Philippine Franchise Association and the Department of Trade and Industry. In 2006 they started expanding to other countries and opened up 10 outlets in Indonesia! Now, they have presence in Malaysia, Panama, and the US. :)

Did you know that their official mascot is named Spudster? :D

There was an entire week I got addicted to Potato Corner's Mega Fries (barbecue + sour cream) because it was so delicious and accessible (conveniently located at our building's canteen plus it's basically everywhere) I just couldn't miss it every time I'm craving for something salty, which, during that time was pretty much daily.

I had to be reminded to quit this food phase cos I was gaining pounds by the day. Seriously. It was hard, but then I moved on to my next food phase sooooo yeah. Haha watch out for it on the next Food Phase Fridays!

You know when you're stressed everyday and you have no one to turn to but food? Those were the days (or months). This was my comfort food cos it was literally comforting to eat! Their barbecue flavor is my favorite cos it has a great balance of sweetness, saltiness, and spiciness! <3

Here are their current prices:

Large Fries - Php 48
Jumbo Fries - Php 79
Mega Fries - Php 99
Giga Fries - Php 169
Tera Fries - Php 199

They also offer other food products like hashbrown, lollipops, loopy fries, etc. But really, just go for the regular fries haha.

[Food Phase Fridays] Project Pie at Fairview Terraces

I've been meaning to try this place out ever since it opened at FT but I was either not in the mood for pizza or afraid I wouldn't have the budget for it. Turns out it's in exactly the same price range as Mad for Pizza (Php285 per head)! So one afternoon with Jeckie, ayon we tried it out! And since then, it kindof became a weekly thing... at least for a month. First time with Jeckie, second with my sister, third with the whole family. You gotta spread the love dibaaaa?

Related: [Review] Mad for Pizza: Toppings all you want!

Project Pie claims to serve artisan pizza at 285 pesos. What the hell is artisanal pizza anyway? Their doughs aren't even hand-stretched, they're balled and contained in a large tub, then mechanically pressed to fill a 9 inch pan on demand. Nothing "artsy" about the process, but it's so cool to watch haha. The crust may even come out too thin. Anyway, I'm not here to argue about whatever labels they want to describe their food chain. I'm here to share about my experience having eaten there for three times already!

Design. Build. Eat.

At Project Pie, you can either choose to order pre-designed pizza or build your own. In the three times I ate there, I always built my own, and I always almost put ALL OF THE TOPPINGS, avoiding the smelly cheeses. hehe

Herbs and veggies
Cheeses and meats
In fairness to the FT branch, they don't scrimp on toppings. They may advise to put certain toppings against each other, but all in your best interest (at least it seems). They may advise to save your succeeding cheese servings for the topmost part (cos I like my moz sandwiched) cos the crust may not cook well, but the way they tell you sounds all so professional you just gotta trust them. And we did!

Here's the outcome of our super yummy pizza indulgence! :D

I especially like my pizza topped with a loooooot of cheese, tomatoes, and herbs. The outcome is super delicious and it smells wonderful too with the oreganos, rosemary, and thyme kicking off when heated. <3

It pretty much tasted the same as my Mad for Pizza version but heyyy Project Pie is nearer to our place! haha :D

Here's a wrap up:

Pros:
- Unlimited toppings
- Drinks are affordable and come with 2 extra refills
- Great ambiance
- Efficient for CLAYGO (Clean as you go). Just throw out the paper mat and put your pizza tray above the trash bin!

Cons:
- They only serve 9" thin crust pizza
- Not a lot of selections aside from pizza

Aaaaah now I'm craving T__T

[Food Phase Fridays] Ministop's BBQ Glazed Chicken

What's your latest food addiction? Food Phase Fridays is a blog series featuring the different foods I've grown addicted to for some time. As in I eat it daily, for over a week, and it won't leave me alone. Time to share these wonders with you!

To start off, here's Uncle John's BBQ Glazed Chicken from Ministop! If you already love Uncle John's Fried Chicken, you'll love this even more! Been eating this for 3 consecutive dinners already and the craving hasn't died down. Better than Jollibee Glazed Chicken Joy, promise. haha

Source
Right now they're on a promo price of 65 pesos for 1 pc chicken with rice. So grab it while it's hot okay?! Regular price is 85 daw but I doubt the promo's gonna end soon cos when they launched this at 85, reception was kinda low. See, I was curious but didn't wanna shell out 85 just to try! When they lowered it to 65 it suddenly became delicious. And indeed it was, the glaze was sweet, not too spicy, and has a smoky barbeque goodness. Inulit ko lang ung nasa poster haha but aren't you glad it's accurate? :D

By the way, when you buy this, have the rice separated from the box cos the glaze will spill to the rice's paper balot so sayang! haha

This is one of the food phases I want to get over with quickly cos it's horribly unhealthy to eat fried chicken everyday diba. But oh well, we'll see. :D

Buy it by the bucket para mas masaya! :D

Any food you were/are addicted to? Let me know!
